OctPoWriMo 18 - I Lie

When a stranger asks me, “How are you?”
I smile and lie.
“I’m good.”
“I’m fine.”
“I’m doing well. And you?”

My mother told me, “Never lie.”
And yet I lie.
Don’t you?

  2. Funny, how that happens. Actually, what I've been doing lately is "Do you want my automatic answer, or the truth?" LOL. And it always strikes an honest conversation. ;)

  3. We either lie or get used to giving the same response every time. I knew a girl in college who didn't like being asked how she was doing and wouldn't ask other people because she knew the answer would be "I'm fine" or "I'm tired". She thought it was a waste of time that could be used to have a thoughtful conversation.
